FOR THE GRAND OPENING OF
CARNIVAL CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

WHAT: |
On Thursday, October 5, the highly anticipated Opening Ceremonies of Carnival Center for the Performing Arts will take place in the Parker and Vann Thomson Plaza for the Arts. Opening Ceremonies will be filled with celebratory speeches, spectacular visuals and music that will capture the international spirit of Miami, including the Afro-Cuban troupe Ife-Ile, Fushu Daiko drummers, Samba Academy parade, the Booker T. Washington Drum Line and a one-minute peal of bells from the nearby Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.
This once-in-a-lifetime event will be open to the public. |

Please Note:
Media Check-in: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. (Media must check-in on Thursday at the press office located on the 3rd floor of the Ziff Ballet Opera House to receive the appropriate credential for Grand Opening Ceremonies. Enter at the corner of 14th St. and NE 2nd Ave. Media will be escorted in groups from the Media Room. You must come to the Media Room to be escorted to the Media Set-up area).

Carnival Center recommends the use of public transportation for those who do not have self parking or valet passes for the Grand Opening festivities. Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) will be providing express Metromover service for passengers attending the Opening Ceremony. The express service will provide attendees with a direct connection between the Stephen P. Clark Center in downtown Miami and Metromover’s Omni station – one block from Carnival Center. The service begins one hour prior to the start of the event and ends one hour after the conclusion of the event. Patrons are asked to park at any Metrorail station, ride Metrorail to the Stephen P. Clark Center (Government Center station) in downtown Miami and transfer to Metromover. MDT representatives will guide riders to the express trains. Metromover is free of charge. Parking for Carnival Center is available in five designated lots within a one- to three-block radius of the Center. A downloadable map of Center-designated lots and driving directions are available on the Carnival Center Web site (www.carnivalcenter.org ). |
