Mission:
MIAMI MADE aims to create and expand opportunities for artists living and working in our community by commissioning and developing new works for presentation at Carnival Center for the Performing Arts.

Program History:
Read about the 2005 Miami Made-Commissioned projects
In Spring 2005, Carnival Center launched its commissioning program now called MIAMI MADE. Carnival Center called on South Florida artists to submit proposals to be considered for support and premiere at the Center.

More than 60 applicants expressed their interest in the program. Nine projects, ranging dramatically in size, scope, and genre were selected for further development. After months of preparation, these artists returned with expanded presentations of their ideas for these works.

All were wonderfully reflective of the vibrant and extraordinarily imaginative arts scene that informs South Florida, and Carnival Center chose five works to assist in further developing through commissions. Carnival Center presented the world premiere of one of these works, Cabaret Unkempt in 2006. Three will premiere during the 2007-2008 season and the final piece will be presented in 2008-2009.
